Shay Gillagus-Alexander’s shot in Superstardom begins in NBA finals
Shai Gilgas-Alexander meets the largest platform in NBA.
The largest platform in NBA, Shai meets Gilgus-Alexander.
This will be the first time you both meet together, but it will not be almost finally final.
The NBA final will close on Thursday night when Oklahoma City Thunder hosted Indiana pacers. The matchup creates a pair of teams from small markets with large dreams, and each side has claimed stars from pacers to thunder and Tierace Heliberton to Star Power from Gilgus-Alexander.
There is also a lot of depth on both sides. It would not be surprising if any person of any team stepped into a leading scorer on any night.
But the best player in the court will be Gilgus-Alexander.
The 26 -year -old league may be one of the least Herald Superstars. If he brings his first NBA championship to Oklahoma City, he can change.
Think of it in this way: Yes, you know about Sga. Everyone knows about all your basketball-loving friends SGA. But if you ask someone who is not greater than a sports fan, can they tell you what is for SGA? Can they tell you for which team he plays? Can they tell you where he went to college?
The NBA final can make a domestic name Gilgas-Alexander everywhere.
In this season, he captured his first NBA MVP Award, while 32.7 points, five rebounds and 6.4 aids. He shot 51.9 percent from the ground and also average 1.7 stolen and 1.0 blocks per game.
In a league full of amazing players, he earned 71 out of 100 first place votes for MVP. Nikola Jokik received the other 29, while Jianis Antatoconamp finished third in the voting.
Thanks to his leadership, Thunder won 68 games – the best mark of any team during a regular session.
Now a big stage comes.
The same year is a very real opportunity to capture the regular-season MVP and NBA Final MVP Award. No one has done this in more than a decade, and it will launch it at another level of Star Power.
The last player to pull the feat was Lebron James, who took the regular season and final MVP Honors home in the back-to-back season in 2011-12 and 2012-13.
Only 10 players have won both awards in the same season. See name:
Willis Reid (1969-70)
Karim Abdul-Jabbar (1970-71)
Moses Malon (1982-83)
Larry Bird (1983-84, 1985-86)
Magic Johnson (1986-87)
Michael Jordan (1990–91, 1991-92, 1995-96, 1997–98)
Hakim Olajuvon (1993-94)
Shakeel O’Neel (1999-00)
Tim Duncan (2002–03)
Labron James (2011-12, 2012–13)
Talk about domestic names.
Just “Lebron,” and anyone in your class, office or neighborhood block party will know what you are talking about. The same “Shak,” “Hakim,” “MJ,” “Magic” or “Bird” – the list moves forward.
Maybe 10 or 20 years from now, this will be true when someone says “Sga”.
When it comes to mega-stardom, Gilgus-Alexander has a lot of work against him.
For one, he does not play on the coast for iconic franchise such as Laks, Nix, or Caltics. Let’s face it-there are types of teams that hold an odd amount of national headlines, and we are having very different conversations about Gilgas-Alexander when we are played near Hollywood, South Beach or Times Square.
Personality also plays a factor. Gilgeous-Aexander can give you a great, depth answer about reading a defense, but it is not attractive. He has interests outside basketball, but he is not going to tell the postgame interview about himself or his brand.
So he is a relatively quiet player in a relatively quiet market.
He is also incredibly gifted.
And he is just four wins from his first (many?) Championships.
He is about four wins who are knowing his name from almost everyone.
