Michelle Marsh crosses Shaun Marsh, scoring 627 runs in IPL 2025

Sean Marsh received the Orange Cap in the inaugural edition in 2008. While Mitchell Marsh cannot get an orange cap this time, he has crossed his brother in terms of runs.
The Marsh family now has two brothers scoring 600+ runs in a season of the Indian Premier League, 17 years apart. Shaun Marsh scored 616 runs for Punjab Kings (then Kings XI Punjab) back in 2008. Now, in IPL 2025, his younger brother Mitchell Marsh has surpassed him with 627 runs for Lucknow Super Giants. He finished his best IPL season with a 37-ball 67-run knock against Virat Kohli’s RCB, one of the few players who witnessed Shaun score those runs back in 2008.
While injuries prevented Mitchell Marsh’s progress, he showed all why he is still one of the best players in T20s. Mitchell played his first full IPL season since making his debut in 2009 for Deccan Chargers. In eight seasons before this IPL, Mitchell scored 666 runs in 36 innings. He missed one match for LSG this IPL. But since his return following IPL suspension, He has scored 65, 117 and 67.
