Australia announced Squad for WTC Final among IPL 2025 Extension Drama




According to a release from Cricket Australia, Australia named its squad to face South Africa in the WTC final next month at Lord’s. Cameron Green’s return to Test Squad has been confirmed after back surgery, including spinner Matt Kuhaniman, as Australia revealed their squad for their WTC defense and subsequent Caribbean Tour on Tuesday. The final Sheffield Shield Player, Brendon Doggate, is named a travel reserve for the 15-Khiladi squad, with otherwise there is no major surprise from outside the group that defeated Sri Lanka 2–0 and India 3–1 in the last summer.

Pat Cummins’ side is trying to become the first nation to win several WTC finals when he faced South Africa at Lord’s from 11 June.

Cummins and Hazelwood have crossed the injuries that excluded him in the year before the Sri Lanka Tour and Champions Trophy, both were returning to action through the Indian Premier League.

Australia won four of their six series to secure a place in their second straight WTC final. It also attracted 1–1 with the West Indies during the 2023 ash and 2023–24 home summer with England.

South Africa topped the standing with eight out of 12 tests for a point of 69.44, while Australia was 67.54 out of 19 matches with 67.54 wins.

Selection President George Bailey said, “The team ended the WTC Chakra with an influential series victory in Sri Lanka after equally strong summer in defeating India for the first time in a decade.”

“Those chains reduced a consistent performance in a two -year cycle and now present us with incredibly exciting opportunity to protect the World Testing Championship.”

“It matters a lot to the group to reach the final, and they are looking far ahead for the challenge of South Africa,” Belly said.

The selectors have opted for the same squad for three trials in Caribbean, with a strong start for their test career with the beyond webuster, retained as a favorite all -rounder after a strong start, while Sam Constas is back to the mixture after leaving Sri Lanka early to finish the domestic season with NSW.
