Chris Basit, Blue Jais Whishes 19 batsmen in winning braws

Chris Basit hit 10, Vladimir Gurro Jr. killed his first homer in the season, and Toronto Blue Jais defeated Atlanta Braves 3–1 on Wednesday afternoon.

Gurero had an RBI single to go with his single home run in a three-game chain rubber match.

The top two hitters hit eight times in the Atlanta lineup, four by each Michael Harris II and Austin Riley. Number 3 Hitter Matt Olson has a shy to add three strikeouts in a total of 19 of Atlanta, a 9-inning game, tie the Bravs franchise record and match the MLB record.

Basit (2–0) played five shutouts, allowing three hits and two walks. However, he needed 90 pitches, and was replaced by Brendon Little in the sixth.

Drake Baldwin killed Major League Homer of his first career against Jeff Hoffman, a close close to Toronto, who earned his fourth service.

Braves Starter Spencer Storer (0–1) returned from elbow surgery to make his first start since April 5, 2024. His command was not fast, but he picked a five-flour innings pitch, allowing a walk with five runs, five hits and a five strikes on 97 pitches.

Toronto scored in the third. Bo Bichet doubled for the interval in the left center and when Gurero scored on the same land in the middle. Gurero helped Sturdear when he was trying to steal in another place.

Olson led the fourth for Atlanta’s first hit, but was stuck in second place when the innings ended on Baldwin’s strike.

Atlanta threatened fifth when Ellie White and Orlando Arcia sang with one and upgraded on a wild pitch. Basit ran away with two strikes.

Sturdear recorded his 500th career strike, when he wooed Edison Barson to chase 3–2 slider at the bottom of the fifth.

Sturdear retired eight in a row, before Gurero left a flat slider to end his homerless drought. Sturdear carried forward Anthony Santnder and was replaced by Dylan Lee.

Toronto took a lead of three in the seventh, when Miles Straw was run by Pierce Johnson, stole the second and scored to the left side of the middle.

Toronto Reliever Yimi Garcia faced all four batsmen in the seventh and eighth.
