IPL 2025: Sunrisers Hyderabad coach Daniel Vettori explains where all this happened

After the washout against Delhi Capital (DC), Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) head coach Daniel Vettori said that there were no conditions in Hyderabad as they expected and the surfaces were difficult. After the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 trailbileser with an ultra-attacked brand of batting led by Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma, SRH on Monday dropped out of 2025 seasons with just three wins in 11 matches after a washout against DC.
Speaking after the game in the post -match presser, “I definitely didn’t say that after every match I was supporting an aggressive approach. I said that we are about to assess the situation and this year, the circumstances as we expected. If you see last year, there were many high scoring games here.
“These surfaces have been particularly different. It is difficult, it is not easy for batsmen. We have talked about everyone that is assessing the circumstances, trying to read the game, and understand what to do in some situations.
Hyderabad has so far hosted six matches, and the teams have crossed the 200 -run mark in only four out of four of the 11 innings, compared to seven out of 12 last year. This time the circumstances were more bowling.
Vetori said that two out of six surfaces were 250-plas, but the rest were favorable for the fast bowlers, especially new ball bowlers who were difficult to hit.
“There are two surfaces that have been 250-plas, and there are four people who are probably more favorable for fast bowlers. There is not so much spinner, but the new ball is a little sticky, difficult to hit, not coming on the bat. There are some of the best new-bowlers in the world in IPL, and they were able to find those conditions,” he said.
With just three wins in ten matches, SRH had to win the game to keep their playoff hopes alive. He had reduced the DC line-up of 133/7, but the rain stopped him from being taken home which could have been very easy.
Vetori said this time in mind the lack of continuity shown by the franchise, “Obviously, it is disappointing. We came with high hopes, but we are not sufficient to suit our performance. I have not able to perform full performance together many times. Today he cannot start a full performance, but we cannot finish it.”
The new ball exploits of Skipar Pat Cummins set SRH, which could have been a complete performance as it ended with 3/19 figures. With Mohammed Shami’s exit, he took responsibility for bowling for the first time and removed Karun Nair and hit the first ball.
Shami’s season has been poor, which has taken only six wickets and 11.23 economy in nine matches of 56.16. The coach said the Indian experienced was left on the basis of circumstances and praised Cummins’ ability to play various roles well.
“This has clearly been a difficult season for Shami so far. But he is working extraordinaryly in the background. We have just seen, especially on this Hyderabad wicket, this is the best makeup of this team for us,” he said.
“If you look at his overall performance, he is capable of being a wicket -taking. He (Cummins) has bowled [in] Many different roles for us. He depends on who is chosen in the team. ,
“Today, I think it was the first [second*] The time took the first over and you can see why he is a major test-match bowler when he gets an opportunity. To be able to bowl today and well for him to please him and lead the team exceptionally well. Hopefully, in the last three matches of the season, “he concluded.
This season in 11 matches, Cummins took an average of 13 wickets on an average of 27.92 and the 9.15 economy rate with the best figure of 3/19.
Coming into the match, after 29/5 reduced, Triston Stabs (41*in 36 balls, with four borders) and Ashutosh Sharma (41 in 26 balls with 41, two fours and three sixes) took DC to 133/7. SRH cannot pursue because the game was washed.
DC is in fifth place, with six wins, four necklaces and no results, giving them 13 points. SRH is in eighth place, with three wins, seven necklaces and no results, giving them seven points.
