Chennai’s Super Kings captain MS Dhoni said on Tuesday that the reconstruction process for next year has already started for the team, which is after a Bhulakkad campaign in the ongoing Indian Premier League. The CSK is struggling at the bottom of the points table after a wretched campaign, in which she became the first team to get out of the playoffs recording. Dhoni, under whose captaincy the franchise has won five IPL titles in the past, had handed over the leadership to Ruturaj Gikwad before the start of 2024 season, but the very small skipper was brought back to lead the side after the injury. “I think we have already started that process,” Dhoni said in the toss for his walking match against Rajasthan Royals. “When it comes to our batting department, we want to express ourselves. This is what we did in the last few matches. We want to move forward with it.
“Bowling, we’ve gone for a few runs. Perhaps we need an additional bowler who can bowl after the powerplay. We have done well in the last few games and we want to continue in the same way,” Tavijan said.
This season CSK has just six points after 12 matches, a performance that is far from their incredible feats of the past when they often dominated the league.
Dhoni said that the team came down to focus on the plan for the future after the expectation of his playoffs in this season.
“When we were out of the tournament, one of the main things was to receive the answer.
“At the beginning of the season, we were struggling in the batting department. We have improved it. It is about sealing your location for the players moving forward.” After the game against RR, CSK will end their campaign with a match against Gujarat Titans.
“When you are under pressure, you find yourself looking for options. In these games, you have the opportunity to express yourself and play your shots. What we have seen from other teams is that you can play good cricket shots and have a good strike rate,” Dhoni said.
