According to the temporary program, the Asia Cup will begin in 2025 September and host the UAE tournament.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) will host the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) Annual General Meeting (AGM) on July 24 in Dhaka. The itinerary for discussions will be a long one. But the major one will be the upcoming Asia Cup 2025.

BCCI gets clearance for IND vs PAK match

The multi-nation tournament was at risk of getting cancelled due to tensions between India and Pakistan. The ACC had even written to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) regarding their participation in the Asia Cup, as they hadn’t received an answer with less than 2 months before the start date.

The BCCI had told InsideSport in June that they were waiting for official approval to play sports against Pakistan from the Indian government. They didn’t receive official approval to play against Pakistan until yesterday, July 14. Prior to this clearance, reports had come out saying that BCCI wouldn’t take part in the ACC AGM. But this development changes it all.

ACC Meeting

The venue, schedule, and format of the Asia Cup 2025 are yet to be decided. Murmurs around the UAE being the host nation and the tournament starting in early September have been doing the rounds for a while now. With clearance provided for facing Pakistan, the BCCI, which might have thought about skipping the meeting before, will now likely travel. BCB president Aminul Islam also expects all boards to be present for their maiden ACC meeting in Bangladesh.

“We will hold an official dinner on the 23rd and the ACC AGM in Dhaka on the 24th (July), where almost every country will participate. This is a big achievement for us, and till now everything is going according to plan (as far as hosting the ACC meeting is concerned), and you will receive further updates in due course,” Aminul told reporters as per Cricbuzz.
