“Not a better coach for the Indian team”: India the Great Choose this IPL coach for the top job

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 has thrown some interesting equations. While traditional power-houses like Mumbai Indians, Chennai Super Kings, Kolkata Knight Riders find themselves at the bottom of the 10-Team IPL 2025 points table, teams like Punjab Kings, Gujarat Titans, Delhi Capital are at the top of their game. Ashish Nehra-Koched GT is a level over others. GT has 12 points, with just two defeats in eight matches. His net run-rate is also great, which has placed him on top of the table.
Ashish Nehra, coach of Gujarat Titans, is performing in the team like a well -oil machine. Former Indian cricket team star spinner Harbhajan Singh said that Nehra is the best coach for the national side.
“I think there is no better coach for the Indian team in the current scenario. He is a very great coach. If the BCCI wants, he should ask if he wants to work with the Indian team or not. I don’t think he will agree because he will not be able to give so much time.
“Well done, Ashish Nehra. The day he joined, he has breathed his life in this team. Every year this team is ready. People say that a left-handed spinner cannot bowl to the left-handed batsmen, or that an off-spinner cannot bowl right-handed batsmen, but Ashish Nehra’s bowlers have done all this.
Gujarat Titans’ head coach Ashish Nehra has been a “big impact” in reviving the lax morale of Mohammad Siraj, who was sidelined with India’s white ball setup after his T20 World Cup win in 2024, his cricket director, Vikram Solanki.
With 11 wickets in seven matches, former RCB Pesar has played an important role in GT, currently topping the IPL 2025 points table.
He is the third biggest wicket -taking of the team and the Purple Cap holder, Prasad Krishna, is only three behind. His season-secretary figures of 4/17 came against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
“There is no doubt that Ashish has been a major impact. He has a very good relationship clearly,” Solanki said on the eve of his match against Kolkata Knight Riders.
Siraj has also missed one place in the Champions Trophy squad and was released by the Royal Challengers Bangalore in front of the mega auction. But Titans of Gujarat showed confidence in him and bought him for Rs 12.25 crore.
“As far as confidence is concerned, perhaps there is no better coach, I don’t think the players compared Ashish Nehra in creating some confidence. I can be a little biased, of course, as far as that scene is concerned. So, I will accept that,” Solanki said.
“But it just feels as if we have found something to prove something … he is clearly disappointed because no cricketer is selected. Everyone wants to play at the highest level. So, I was sure that he was disappointed.
“But he has broadcast the disappointment in working hard and I think, I think there is a real idea about what he wants to do. And he has found a great coach in Ashish Nehra as far as his performance is concerned. Therefore, it can continue for a long time. It can continue for a long time. This connection can continue for a long time. And long may continue to flourish.
