Los Angeles Angels recalled the right-handed Caden Dana from Triple-e Salt Lake on Saturday and nominated the right-handed Shaun Anderson for the assignment.
This step is not surprising, as the angels want to add weapons available in a deficient bullpen. Flamethrower Ben Joyce performed season-ending shoulder surgery, and veteran Robert Stephenson is still completing his rehabilitation assignment.
30 -year -old Anderson had 6.30 ERA and 10 strikes of 10 strikes in 10 innings. He won the last Sunday against Los Angeles Dojers; In 2 2/3 innings, he pulled out three, taking out an earned run, one hit, and no walk.
Dana is ranked as the number 2 probability of the organization by the MLB pipeline. He was called for a relief appearance before this season, pitching in three innings and allowing two runs, four hits and two strikes for a walk.
The 21-year-old standout had 2.52 ERA in the 135 2/3 innings in the Double-A Rocket City last season and has options. This season, he is 3–4 with 5.21 ERA in eight in Salt Lake.
“If he needs him in that situation, he will be our long man out of Bulpen,” Angels manager Ron Washington told Dana reporters. “This is the way we will use it, because he has a length. We need a length, so what he has to do here. If something happens in the second innings, he can take the game in all ways to the end, and that is what we need. And he was available. It was his time to pitch, so we brought him.”
Despite the Bulpen uncertainty, Angels (25–25) caught fire, winning eight straight games entering the game on Saturday night against Miami Marlins.
