Jasprit Bumrah to return to play XI for Lord’s Test

After India’s victory at Edgbaston, Captain Shubman Gill confirmed that Jaspreet Bumrah would return to the XI to play at Lord’s
India cricket team captain Shubman Gill has confirmed that Jasprit Bumrah will return to the playing XI for ENG vs IND 2nd Test. The veteran pacer was left to warm the bench at Edgbaston as a part of his workload management. An Indian bowling line-up sans Bumrah, thanks to Akash Deep and Siraj, managed to get 20 wickets in the 2nd Test to guide India to a 336-run win against England.
Bumrah to return for Lord’s Test
Speaking at the post-match presentation, Gill responded “definitely” when asked if Bumrah will be a part of the Lord’s Test. He reiterated the same at the post-match press conference as well. Gill credited Akash Deeo and Siraj for doing a magnificent job in the absence of Bumrah.
“Definitely (Bumrah back at Lord’s?). Very excited for that (Lord’s Test),” Gill said.
Further, Gill lavished praise on the duo of Akash and Siraj for picking 16-17 wickets, calling it a great achievement in the absence of Bumrah. He said that a lot of questions were asked on India’s capability to pick all 20 wickets and that the way the duo delivered was outstanding.
“Both of them took 16-17 wickets. That itself is a big, big achievement coming into this Test match, especially without Jasprit [Bumrah] BrotherThere were many questions if we would be able to take those 20 wickets. And the way these two people gave it only arrears. I have no words to describe,“Gill said.
Akash Deep registered figures of 10/187 – his first 10-wicket haul and the best figures for an Indian bowler in England. Siraj, on the other hand, grabbed a six-wicket haul in the 1st innings followed by one wicket in the 2nd.
Prasidh Krishna is most likely to be left out of the playing XI in the Lord’s Test to accommodate Bumrah.
