Alex Morgon San Diego Wave joins the Onsepal Group

The two -time Women’s World Cup champion Alex Morgan is buying a stake in San Diego Wave FC, which is her former team in the National Women’s Football League.

The captain of the former American women’s national team for a long time was declared as the club’s newest minority investor on Tuesday.

Morgan said in a statement, “San Diego is the place where I have built my house, where I am raising my children, and got a purpose beyond my game career.”

“I believed in Wave FC before playing the same match, and I still believe that this club has the power to change the future of women’s game. I am proud to invest in that future and not only as a player, but now as an investor.”

35 -year -old Morgan retired from NWSL last September. The striker was one of the original signals of the club in December 2021 and scored 16 goals in 2022 to capture the league’s golden boot.

In 2015 and 2019, a World Cup winner and Olympic gold medalist in 2012, Morgan retired from the international game as USWNT’s fifth largest scorer with 123 goals in 224 performances.

Morgan has also invested in a 3 -on -3 professional female basketball league starting this year in a 3 -on -3 professional female basketball league.

Along with the wave, the two-time US soccer player the women’s player of the year club joins the Leachman-Lavin family.

“Alex fought the game to affect the game positively beyond the pitch,” said Lauren Leachman who controlled the wave owner in a statement. “He used to use his platform, to advocate, and to make something meaningful in San Diego.

“His decision to invest is not only a continuity of his leadership, but also has a reflection of his faith in what we are making.”
