Mackenzie Hughes (63) out of front at Myrtle Beach

McCenzie Hughes of Canada made a slight lead in Oneflight Martal Beach Classic after starting with 8-under-Barbar 63 at Dunes Golf and Beach Club in South Carolina on Thursday.
Hughes finished strong in their last six holes with a strong with five bellies, which included each of the last four. He stuck his approach to Par-4 16 to 6 feet pin and put his tea shot in Par-3 17th in the 17th place within 8 feet.
Then Par-4 18th, when Hughes dialed an approach from a distance of 159 yards and rolled it in 2 1/2 feet cup to establish its final Birdi.
Hughes credited his team to bring him to a new putting method, where he is not uprooting his shots.
Hughes said, “I honestly made such a decision on the decision coming down from Charlot on Monday.” “My caddy and my mental game man, we just said,” Hey, look, we are going to free it. ” It is also freeing me mentally.
Hughes played with Irishman Seemas Power, one of the three players, who tied a stroke behind him in 7-in-Ender 64.
Power turned into a bogie-free round, highlighted by an eagle 2 at number 8. At a distance of 162 yards, Power took off his approach to green and saw that it makes a bine for hole.
“It was a funny. It was correct among the clubs,” Power said. “With the firm of Greens and once when you make it the past, it is not just going to stop. I just tried to bend at 9-lohe and came out completely. It landed where I wanted, and obviously it was very lucky to go inside.”
Hughes have won a pair of incidents of fall on the PGA tour in 2016 and 2022, while Power is also hunting for their third title after winning the 2021 Barbasol Championship and 2022 Bermuda Championships.
The 6-underre was in fifth place in 65, Andrew Poonam, New Zealand’s Ryan Fox, Argentina’s Alejandro Tostty and Christobal Dell Solar of Chile.
The 17 -year -old Blade Brown opened with 66, tied for the second best round of his young PGA Tour career. Brown started his tour at Martal Beach Classic last year and has since been Prof.
“It was great. I did not need to take all these extra notes for golf courses,” Brown said. “Just almost that home course is advantage, if you know what I mean. … It is good to be able to see a golf ball and, like, ‘Oh, I have played a tournament course like this first.’ I was really happy to come back to Martal Beach here. “
Defending champion Chris Gotterup opened with 4-under 67.
Martal Beach is an alternative phenomenon unlike the Trust Championship signature of the Classic Philadelphia.
