Nationals extends Oriols in 9th

Washington National scored on two-out Infielded single of Naseem Nunez in the ninth innings, claiming a 4-3 win against host Baltimor Oriols on Friday night to open a three-game series.

James Wood also prepared a run-scoring single and Nathaniel Lowe for citizens, who won the second time in their last 10 matches.

Ramon Laureno made three hits each in 4-for-4 and Adle Rutsman and Jackson Holiday, but Oriols lost the 10th time in the 12-game stretch.

The teams combined to strike 28 times.

Kigan Akin tied the score from Wood’s two-out Solo Homer Eighth. He has 12 Homer.

Oriols Starter Cad Povich acted in 5 2/3 innings, giving two runs on three hits, with a pair and two runs on three hits with nine strikeouts. Felix Botista (0–1) suffered losses.

George Lopez (6–0) was the winning pitcher with a relief innings and Kyle Finnegan rose to ninth place for his 14th Save. A lead-off from Holiday Finnegan reached the single, but was erased when he was caught stealing on the same pitch, who killed Sedric Mulins.

National Starter McKenzie Gore had a strange line giving two runs in 3 2/3 innings. He surrendered 10 hits and ran two batsmen, while there were nine strikes.

Oriols loaded the hideouts and did not score in the first innings. Lowe kept out of the other for his eighth long ball of the season with one in the other.

Baltimore Laureno’s double and Holiday’s Infield Single grew 2–1 in the third.

Washington placed the runners in the second and third place with one in the seventh, but Brian Baker entered the Baltimor Bulpen and hit two batsmen to reduce the danger.
