Shubman Gill is going to be a very good leader for India: Rashid Khan

Shubman Gill is going to be a very good leader for Gujarat Titans not only in the Indian Premier League (IPL), but also for India, Afghanistan T20I captain Rashid Khan said on Saturday. Gill has scored 51.66 runs in 51.66 in 10 matches with 465 runs from the front of Gujarat’s Titans. “Shubman Gill, this is his second year who is leading the team and is getting better and better in every game,” Rashid said during a media conversation.
“In the future, he is definitely going to be one of the very good, very good leaders for India, not only GT but also for India. He has those qualities and skills. But it is very important that your head has a good relationship with the coach where he makes those things a little easier for you,” he said.
With seven wins and three defeats in 10 matches, it has been one of the teams defeating GT, which is a complete change from the previous season in which he finished eighth as captain in the first year of Gill.
Rashid said, “Last year, things did not go in our way.”
“We were trying our best, but it didn’t just go in our way. Some results, you know, we could take them in our way, but did not go.” Rashid said, “But it is quite important that you have a good relationship and understanding between the head coach and the captain and I think Ashish (Nehra) brother and Shubman Bhai, both of them have such a great understanding and it is quite important.”
Ace Afghanistan spinner said that Gill has talked as a leader in this IPL to answer a question about the overall success of GT so far.
“This is a overall team’s attempt. Starting from Ashish Bhai, how he manages the team, then Captain Shubman Gill, how he manages inside and then how he is moving from the front.
“This is something that sets an example for us as a player, yes, the captain is moving forward from the front. To be honest, we just keep things simple. The more we keep as simple as we keep. We do not really think about the result, but we really think about the process and mentality and preparation,” Rashid said.
With seven wickets in 10 matches, Rashid did not have the best season ever this year which was accepted by the Afghan spinner.
“This is a difficult question for me like a difficult season,” he replied when asked about his form.
“Even though you look at tomorrow’s bowling (against Sunrisers Hyderabad), as well, 40 percent of what I have known did not bowl even 40 percent. Length and line, this is something that gives me a clear idea that yes, it is not just about the batsman, I missed my line and length.
“If I remember my line and length on any day, I think any batsman is going to score against me. I think the length and line was missing, but I just need to focus on it. Next game I play, I just focus on killing the right area continuously and this is something that will make me more effective in the game.”
Talking about how the number of points is shaping the table, Rashid said, “This competition does not allow you that, yes we have seven games and we need to win one more to lock ourselves in the top four. Mumbai Indians have five or six back-two-back win and the game will be big for us.”
