Olympian Javelin thrower Shivpal Singh has failed for the second time in his career, a development that may be banned for a maximum period of eight years if he is found guilty. The 29 -year -old, who competed in the Tokyo Olympics, was returned positive for a restricted substance, when his urine sample was excluded from the competition earlier this year. He was then training in NIS Patiala. He has been relieved by the National Doping Anti-Doping Agency (NADA).

“Yes, he has conducted a positive test for a restricted substance. This is his second dope crime,” a source of development Praivi described PTI on terms of oblivion.

If proved to be guilty and handed over a long ban, Shivpal’s career would be equally good.

Under the NADA and WADA rules, an athlete can be banned for a maximum of eight years for another doping offense.

Shivpal’s best achievement in his career is the silver medal he won at the 2019 Asian Championships in Doha, where he threw his personal best 86.23 meters.

Earlier in 2021, Shivpal’s dope sample conducted a positive test for steroids in an out-of-competition test. In August 2022, Nada’s anti-doping disciplinary panel assigned him a four-year ban starting from 2021, blaming him of committing doping crime.

He was serving the ban by 2025, but was able to successfully argue before the NADA’s Appeal Panel was that “contaminated supplements” were behind his flap dope testing.

In January 2023, the appeal panel accepted its dispute and reduced the ban period to four years.

He returned to action in April 2023 and won bronze at the National Inter-State Championship in Bhubaneswar in June that year. He also won gold at the 2023 National Games in Goa.
