Zimbabwe to welcome Sri Lanka for OD and T20C series. Cricket news

Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka have been designed to face two ODIs and three T20I features in a white ball chain at Harare Sports Club.The series will begin with ODI with ODIs on August 29 and 31, followed by T20I matches in early September.The T20I matches have special significance for Zimbabwe as they prepare the ICC men’s T20 World Cup for the Africa regional final. Zimbabwe will host this qualifying event from September 19 to October 4, determining the last two African teams for the 2026 T20 World Cup, which is co-maintained by India and Sri Lanka.“We are happy to confirm Sri Lanka’s visit to Zimbabwe to expect being a thrilling and competitive series. The matches between our two countries have always produced entertaining cricket, and this tour comes at an important time for our team as we prepare for the upcoming T20 World Cup qualifying campaign, “said Givmor Makoni, Managing Director of Zimbabwe Cricket,, Givmor Makoni.The most recent encounter among these teams took place in January 2024, where Sri Lanka won 2–0 in the three-match ODI series at home. Teams for the upcoming series have not been announced yet.Zimbabwe’s schedule includes hosting South Africa, ICC World Test Champion for two Tests. This will be followed by a three-series associated with South Africa and New Zealand.Sri Lanka is currently engaged in their first World Test Championship cycle matches against Bangladesh at home. They will play three Odis and T20I after the Test series.
