Zack Wheeler fans 10 as Phillies closes Padress

The Zack Wheeler started more than 10 in more than eight effective innings, as host Philadelphia Philos won 4–0 over San Diego Padress on Monday.

Wheeler (8-3) allowed tener banks to allow six hits without walking before coming ninth. Nick Castelanos did homeing and JT Realmuto made two hits for Philips, who have won three of their last four matches.

Bryas Harper returned to the Philis lineup for the first time since June 5, who recovered from the inflammation of the right wrist. He moved to 0 -for -2 with a walk and hit a pitch.

Xander Bogaerts had three hits for San Diego, which lost three of their last four competitions. Jackson Merrill hit three times in four hitless et-bats, including a punchout on 96 mph fastball on the last pitch of the wheeler.

Philadelphia proceeded 1–0 in the second innings in Bryson Stot’s run-scoring groundout to groundout against San Diego Starter Matt Waldron.

Stot was once again involved in Philips’ fourth-inning rally which extended the lead 3–0. He went with one and stole another. Brandon Marsh then defeated an informed single, and Stot scored from another when the Padress was slow to react after the conclusion of the drama.

Marsh stole the second, went third on a wild pitch and scored on the Tra Turner’s infield hit, making it 3–0.

After retiring in order in the third and fourth innings, the wheeler had some trouble in the fifth. He allowed a single and hit a batsman to start the frame, but he recovered Bryce Johnson to take out, before the Pinch Hoter Trenton Brooks rolled into a double play to finish the innings.

At the bottom of the fifth, Solo Homer of Castelanos put the lead 4–0.

San Diego again had two Basarner against the wheeler in the sixth, but excluded the veteran right -handed Gavin sheets to retire on the side.

Creating its first appearance of the season after a prolonged absence due to a oblique injury, Waldron (0–1) allowed four runs and six hits, with six walks in 4/3 innings. He threw three wild pitches and hit three.

The damage against Waldron may have worsened, Meril did not make a jump, full-wound catch on the center field wall to rob the three-run homer’s Max Capler in the third innings.
