“You need to wake up”: 4.2 crore rupees Punjab Kings Star Glenn Maxwell sent a cruel warning

This has so far been a disappointing IPL 2025 campaign for Punjab Kings all -rounder Glenn Maxwell. Maxwell, who was bought by the franchise for Rs 4.2 crore at the mega auction, has scored just 41 runs in six matches at an average of 8.20. He has been a little better with the ball as he has taken 4 wickets. However, senior Indian cricket team Batter Cheteshwar Pujara was not happy with his performance and in a recent conversation, he urged Maxwell to work on his vision. Pujara said that Maxwell needed a ‘wax up’ and if it was any other player, he would have been removed from the team by now.

Pujara said, “The way that bats have not changed.” Pujara said on ESPNCRICINFO T20 Time Out, “He has not changed the way to contact the IPL. It has happened many times that it has been a little casual. He is the same that he was eight-ten years ago. I am a little critical, but many times it happens that you need to wake up as a player.”

When it comes to IPL, the form of Maxwell has been quite inconsistent. Although he has played some great knocks for PBK and Royal Challengers Bangalore, his lack of continuity has been a topic of discussion among fans as well as experts.

“You need to feel that you are getting a chance to play and part of a franchise where things are at stake. And sometimes a player can be casual, they are not worried about what is happening. I am sure he wants to perform, but when you are not performing, he is trying to pull his socks and he is doing anything.”
