
Daria Lodicova sweated from Selena Jenisevik 7-6 (4), 7-6 (8) to Selena Jenisevic 7-6 (4), 7-6 (8) in the qualifying round of the Unicrade IASI Open at IASI, Romania on Monday. The two were also in a large-scale narrow two-set match, but Lodicova took advantage of the brake point. The Russian 4 -for -5 moved, while Jenicizvic of France replaced four out of eight break points.
On the strength of 24-year-old Siskova’s service games, Anna Siskova of Czech Republic also 3-6, 6-3, 6-0.
In other matches, number 6 Seed Jill Teachman won 1-6, 7-6 (2), 6-1, and number 7 Seed Irina-Camelia Begu against Romania’s Mirium Bianka Bulgaru to win Japan’s Nao Hibbino 6–1, 6–2 against Japan’s Nao Hibbino 6–2. Other winners include No. 3 Seed N Li on Monday, No. 5 Seed Varwara Granchewa of France, Maja Chawalinska of Poland and Jana Fate of Croatia.
MSc Hamburg Ladies Open
Japan’s number 6 Seed Moyuka Uchizima converted to just 30.8 percent of its break points and on Monday, the entry of Wild Card in Germany in the first round of Hamburg was eight double defects in the way of getting upset by Nastasza Shank 7-5, 6-3.
In a marathon match which took three hours and 21 minutes, Diani Parry of France left Tara Worth 7-6 (9), 3-6, 7-5 to win. Croatian had six aces in three of Parry, which included five in the final set, and converted to 42.9 percent of their brake points, but Parry was the last woman standing with 47 total points in the final set.
After expanding the match on a third set, the number 8 seed mayor Sheriff retired, gave Louisa Chiriko a walkover of 4-6, 7-5, 3–0. Egyptian Sheriff saved 13 break points while Chiriko rescued seven.
