Virat Kohli, the star batter of the Indian cricket team, surprised everyone as he declared his retirement from Test cricket just before the series against England. Kohli, who retired from T20Is after the T20 World Cup 2024 Triumph, is active only in ODIs and his next big target will have to be played 2027 World Cup. After the announcement, there has been a lot of discussion about Kohli’s future, but former India head coach Ravi Shastri does not believe that the star batter will become a coach or broadcaster after bidding farewell to his game career. In an interview recently, Shastri said that he believes that Virat would go away after playing once and there is no possibility of convenience in any broadcast or coaching jobs.
“He is still around to serve Indian cricket at ODI, but I also know that Virat will move away from the game once playing cricket. He is not the kind of broadcaster who would like to play the role of a broadcaster.
Shastri also believed that Virat could play for two more years and would like to see him in the upcoming five -match Test series against England.
“I am sure Virat still had a two -year Test cricket left. I preferred to see him in England in this summer. It would have been a good idea to hand over him the captaincy for the tour, but he knew the best why he decided to leave. To reduce his career in an important phase of Indian cricket.”
