Will BCCI turn to Split-Coaching if Gautam Gambhir’s bid to win the Test series in England fails?

Gautam Gambhir has taken India down 0–1 in the test series against England since Gautam Gambhir took over as India’s head coach.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) was against the captaincy of partition. But now, the India cricket team has three captains in three different formats. They are against split coaching. However, in the era of Gautam Gambhir, India has lost two consecutive test chains, including a whitewash at home for New Zealand and a thrashing in Australia. In England, India is 0–1 in the five-match test series. In the severe era, India have won three out of 11 Tests, losing as seven matches. Therefore, if Gambhir’s bid fails to win a Test series in England, will BCCI change into Split Coaching?
Team India never divided coaching. Certainly, Rahul Dravid, VVS Laxman, and other coaches of the National Cricket Academy stepped into parallel tourism. But with several teams after a split coaching formula to reduce the workload on coaches and focus on one or two formats, will the BCCI follow the BCCI suit?
“Currently, Gambhir is doing a good job with a young team. In the infection, you do not always get the desired results. Both Australia and England struggle during their transition. Therefore, it is ahead of time to get a call on Gambhir. We still have four test matches in England. A BCCI official told the Insidesport.
Gautam serious era
While he is barely in a job for a year, Gautam Gambhir has already given the ICC Champions Trophy. In T20Is, India has been the most prominent force. The only spot for Gambhir in the White-Ball format will be an ODI series defeat in Sri Lanka.
However, in Test cricket, he has a sudden record as a coach. While many people would argue that Team India has been in a transition period, the fact is that Rahul was also an infection even during Dravid’s tenure. Dravid tested several players after taking out Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane.
During Gambhir’s tenure, India have won only three Tests, including two at home against Bangladesh and one against Australia. Except for this, he did not get any success. The Bharat WTC final failed to reach 2025, as Dravid left India in a good position to qualify.
“I think there is another England tour. I don’t think the BCCI would say anything to him till then after the tour of England, it would be a year when he took over the reins. Former India opener Akash Chopra said YouTube channel,

Will BCCI Split turn into coaching?
While BCCI has been opposed to this idea, it is not that the Indian board has not discussed it internally. VVS Laxman had an perception to hand over the reins of the test, in which Gammhir was completely with the in-charge of the White-Ball set-up after the Border-Gavaskar Trophy insult. However, many people believe that India’s poor results are due to the phase of infection and the dismissal of Gambhir after BGT 2024–25 would have been a reaction to the knee shock. Therefore, the BCCI trusted Gambhir, excluding two non-demonstrations, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. Both Indian cricket stallwarts fought for the form in the red ball.
With the T20 World Cup in 2026, BCCI may not want to demolish the existing structure. However, in trials, the result of the tour of England may force BCCI to call.
If India wins, draws or loses a test series by Margin’s Best in England, serious will be secured. However, if India goes below without any fight, at least, the position of severe as the head coach of the Red-Ball team may be at least, in danger. The Indian board can be forced to go for split coaching.
Is VVS Laxman’s answer?
After deciding to call Dravid as Quits, NCA chief VVS Laxman was the strongest candidate. However, former India batsmen were not in favor of traveling with the team. However, a red-gent-keel role is different. India will travel to Sri Lanka and New Zealand for short testing tourism only in the WTC 2025-27 cycle. The remaining matches will be in India.
Therefore, laxman can be a viable option. He also enjoys a great synergy with Gambhir. However, if he decides against it, there will be many who are interested in taking a red-ball-only role.
