Why RCB IPL can release only 2 players before 2026 auction

Despite having 75 million in its purse, RCB did not bid for the players and ended with 23 players (maximum 25) in the squad for IPL 2025.

In the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, everything went right for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). All this began in the auction table in Jeddah last year. RCB planned retention and also bought it. The result is a young woman IPL title run.

This means that IPL 2026 comes in auction, not too much chopping and changing. Both foreign and Indian players have been successful in their roles. And even backups have come and performed.

Swastik Chikara, Manoj Bhandej, Mohit Rathi, Abhinandan Singh, and Swapnil Singh played a match between them, but they are good -cost backups and they do not understand much to release them. All other players of the squad have done well.

But RCB may release some players. For the beginning, they already have two slots that they can fill with domestic players. But by issuing two players of about Rs 15 crore, RCB can further strengthen its squad.

Players may be released before RCB IPL 2026 auction

Player Property price Statistics
Rasikh Salaam Dar Fast bowler 6 crores rupees 1 wicket (2 innings, 70 average, 11.66 economy)
Liam Livingstone All -round 8.75 crores 112 runs (8 innings, 16 average, 133.33 strike rate)
2 wickets (5 innings, 38 average, 8.44 economy)

The first release will be Rasikh Salaam Dar. After an interesting IPL 2024 season, the talented fast bowler was acquired for Rs 6 crore. On talent alone, it was worth Rs 6 crore for Kashmiri Pesar. But the result was not very good. It was seen as a natural wicket taker, Rasikh was not affected in that department. And he has never been economical and if he cannot take wickets in the middle overs, RCB is not much utilized for him.

Liam Livingstone may be the second release. The English all -rounder bowled just 9 overs. And neither his average nor his strike rate was quite good to justify a place. Tim David, Josh Hazlewood and Jacob Bethel were all available for matches, Livingstone did not even play 10 matches. RCB can leave him and get Rs 8.75 crore back. Then another all-rounder acquired or perhaps the Livingstone returned to a inexpensive rate.
