India’s squad witnessed the much -awaited comeback of Karun Nair for the tour of England, while a young star as Sai Reformson also earned a node from the Control Board for Cricket in India (BCCI) Selection Committee. However, a famous name, which was snatched by Ajit Agkar -led selection team, was Shreyas Iyer. Despite being a consistent artist for India at ODI, especially in the Champions Trophy, Iyer was snatched to a place in the country’s white-ball side.
Former India cricketer Virender Sehwag, who was amazed by Iyer’s lapse from the tour of England, questioned the BCCI on the absence of a middle-order batsman.
“Surely. He does not get much credit for his captaincy. Manoj (Tiwari) said that Rishabh Pant did not get captaincy because his IPL season has not been very good. But Iyer has a great season, he is also a captain. Why can’t he play in Test cricket?
Iyer has been one of the most in-form batsmen in the Indian Premier League, while Punjab also takes Kings in the playoffs. Sehwag did not say that he wanted Iyer in India’s Test team on a tour of England.
“When you are in a good form, it is good to take him on a tour because there is a greater possibility of his performance. I would like to see him in the Test team. If he has the same approach in Test cricket, it benefits the team. If you have 2-3 players, it is afraid in opposition. Sehwag.
