It was a 180 -run chase of Chennai Super Kings against Kolkata Knight Riders in its IPL 2025 game at Eden Gardens on Wednesday. All eyes in the stadium were eagerly waiting to see Ayush Matre’s batting, coming in the game behind a sensational 94 against Royal Challengers Bangalore. As in luck, Matre was rejected by Vaibhav Arora for a two -ball duck. Then 28 -year -old right -handed batsman Urvil Patel came. He played a dot ball before a stylish six slamming for Arora from a deep mid-wicket through a fly shot.

It was not because Uril went to slam three and sixes and one four during a 31 -run cameo in 11 balls. His strike rate was 281.82. While this was the first time he was playing in the IPL, the style of such batting was nothing new to Uril, which has a record of scoring fifty fifty fifty fifty-fifty in T20 cricket.

Uril was born in Mehsana and plays domestic cricket for Gujarat. He is a hard-touching wicketkeeper-better who rocked the limelight during the 2024-25 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. He scored 315 runs in six innings at an average of 78.75 and a strike rate of around 229.92.

In the same version of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, Uril broke a 28 -ball centenary against Tripura in Indore in November 2024. The knock helped him become a joint-second batsman in T20 cricket.

It was a success season for Uril as he broke the highest number of sixes (29) from the silver Patidar.

After the tournament, Urvil also shone with the best score of his 140 career against Saurashtra in the quarter -finals of the Ranji Trophy.

Urvil Patel has played 47 T20, with 1162 runs with two hundreds and four fifties.

Interestingly, Urvil IPL was a part of Gujarat Titans in 2023, but two years later made its IPL debut for CSK. He was signed for Rs 30 lakh by a five -time champion, such as Dynasty Bedi was dropped from IPL 2025 due to injury. He was invited for a trial by CSK with Matre, as his regular captain Ruturaj Gikwad was forbidden to hurt.
