What is ahead for Virat Kohli after retirement? County Club Middlesex shows “interest”

Virat Kohli hanged his shoes exactly a month before the start of Test Series vs England on 20 June.
Even though Virat Kohli has freshly retired from Test cricket, but the 36-year-old is far from done. He is still active in ODIs, and is also one of the main batters for RCB, in IPL. Having said that, English county club Middlesex are keen to hire him, whose home ground is the iconic, Lord’s.
Virat Kohli to Play for Middlesex?
Director of cricket at Middlesex, Alan Coleman confirmed the same to The Guardian. “Virat Kohli is the most iconic player of his generation, so of course we are interested in having that conversation.” It is important to note that some stalwarts from this era have represented the county, including the likes of AB De Villiers for the T20 Blast in 2019, Kane Williamson in the same year.
Of course, there hasn’t been any discussion on the same by Virat Kohli, so it’s too early to say, if the Indian will eventually play there or not. But then, if the move does happen, after all, he could be facing James Anderson at the Old Trafford, against Lancashire. In fact, back in 2018, just before the England tour, he had even signed for Surrey, for a six-game deal.

But then, he did not play any matches there, due to a neck injury, but then went on to have an excellent series in England. He had emerged the highest-run getter in the five-match series, scoring 593 runs, at an average of 59. As far as Virat’s Test record is concerned, he finished with 123 matches, after scoring 9230 runs at an average of 46.
