A day after Landon Donovan provoked the members of the American men’s national team, who decided to release this summer friendly and Concacaf Gold Cup, midfielder Weston McCeni came to protect his comrades.
Christian Police, Antony Robinson and Yums Musa are one of the USMNT Mainstages, not with the team, to rest after the European session. The upcoming club is also missing many other players due to the injury or participation in the World Cup, where McKeni is ready to compete with Juventus.
On Sunday, Donovan took a shot in current USMNT absents, appreciating Cristiano Ronaldo to help Portugal at the UEFA Nations League Championships with a win over Spain.
“This means to represent your country,” Donovan said, talking about Ronaldo, at Fox Broadcasting. “This means. McCeni was asked about Donovan’s comments by USA Today Sports on Monday in Italy, where she is in training with Juventus.
“Obviously, none of us takes to play for the national team,” McCeni told the USA Today. “None of us want to lose game. We all want to compete.”
McCeni said of Donovan’s comments, “There was no name. Come out of a long season, a stressful season, of course, some players feel a different way about it, and some players feel in another way. But comments have comments. Everyone has their own opinion, and it is life, and it is football.
“Obviously, as I said earlier, none of us believe that we get to represent a national team because it is one of the greatest honors that we can do in the game of football.
“So, any chance we get, we want to play. But obviously, if you don’t think that your body is in the right position, and you don’t think that your body is the best form or shape or whatever is, then to be able to do so, and you think you are getting hurt, it is better to let someone go completely.”
In addition, on Monday, Christian’s father, Mark Police, gave a chat summary on Instagram when Donovan took a rest to play in 2012-13 “because he felt physically and mentally tired after years of intensive competition and the pressure coming with being a top athlete.”
