West Indies released Los Angeles 2028 Olympic cricket petition

Cricket West Indies have urged the International Cricket Council (ICC) to give the Caribbean countries a chance to qualify for the game of 2028 Los Angeles and avoid the region from “getting out of history”. LA 2028 will see cricket returning to the Olympics for the first time since 1900, which will be included in the program with six-team T20 events in both men and women sports. ICC, the global governing body of cricket has not yet announced the merit process, but there are concerns in the West Indies, one of the long -established sports established major international teams and geographically a closest to Los Angeles that can be excluded by their component countries.

This is because Barbados, Jamaica’s choice – Sports house sprints the Great Usain Bolt – Antigua and Barbuda and Trinidad and Tobago and Tobago West Indies Banners. When it comes in international cricket, they are all individual institutions in an Olympics.

Therefore, if the cricket qualification for La 2028 is to be decided mainly on the basis of world rankings, then this incident can proceed without any carbion partnership.

CWI CEO Chris Dehring said on Thursday, “We are all asking that the extraordinary Olympic heritage of our individual countries is considered in the conversation.”

“Our nations proudly have their individual flags as a perennial gold medalist as an Olympic podium.

“Now, with the inclusion of cricket, we must make sure that our cricketers are not out of history. We are ready to cooperate. We are ready to compete. But above, we are asking for fairness.”

The CWI admits that there is no possibility of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), allowing the West Indies team to compete in La 2028, even though their men were the T20 world champions in 2012 and 2016 – when their women took the same female global title.

But in a letter to ICC, CWI suggested two possible routes for regional representation.

First an inter-cervical qualifying tournament finds themselves in a qualification position to the West Indies, making the winner to take the location of the region.

In the second, the West Indies will be a dedicated regional qualification process involving each of the independent nations.

CWI president Kishore Ullale said: “Caribbean has always punched her weight above the Olympics, which inspires the world with our athletic talent.

“Our young cricketers should not exclude the return of cricket in sports in 2028 that has inspired our athletes.”
