“We are just eager to do our best”: Gujarat Titans Captain Shubman Gill after winning on SRH

Gujarat’s Titans captain Shubman Gill said that the understanding of playing on difficult surfaces has helped the top-three including Sai Reformson and Jose Butler to perform well in the IPL this season. All three have scored bulk scores of runs for GT which are definitely to make play-offs. It was not separate on Friday as the top-order took the house to the house up to 224, which could comfortably defend the bowlers against Sunrisers Hyderabad. GT also played only 22 dot balls in 20 overs.
“It was not a plan that (22 dot balls), the idea we had to continue playing. Black soil (pitches), we have seen that it is not easy to hit the six. But the way our top orders play, we know how to tick the scoreboard.
In the post match presentation, Gill said, “We have never interacted for one of the top-three. He scored 76 runs in 38 balls.
On his warm exchange with the umpire during the run chase, Gill said: “There are a lot of feelings, you give 110% on the field, sometimes you are obliged to show emotions.” After scoring 64 runs in 37 balls, Butler played his effort and instead praised reforms, who scored 48 runs off 23 balls.
“I have said that this is some time, one day looking at him in the trap, I was blown away by how good it is. More importantly on his shoulders.
The former England captain said, “The effort he makes, he works, the understanding of his game, the humility of coming and working everyday. He was shown a brilliant continuity and is receiving the award he deserves.”
SRH is virtually out of the play-off race after the seventh loss in 10 games. SRH captain Pat Cummins said that he allowed GT to score 20-30 additional runs.
Referring to the top-order of GT, Cummins said, “Pursuing 200 looks a little more realistic. They are class batsmen. They do nothing. If you bowl bad balls, they remove it. We probably dismissed a lot of bad balls.”
On the road ahead, he said: “We can stick to some hopes. Last year big auction. The original of the group will remain for three years. Therefore, many to play.”
