The Vancouver Whitcaps will look at the Los Angeles FC side to strengthen their place over the MLS standing on Sunday that is trying to play back in the controversy after a slow start.

Whitcaps (8-1-2, 26 points) has been the story of MLS in 2025.

Vancouver earned her first appearance in the 2025 ConcacAF Champions Cup final with her semi -final series win over Lionel Messi and Inter Miami at the end of the last month. And notable, Whitcaps also played the best record in the league, balanced both competitions.

Manager Jasper Sorenson’s side has won the back-to-back league matches and is unbeaten in its last six in MLS Play.

Whitcap sent Real Salt Lake 2–1 at home last Saturday on the goals of Jayden Nelson and Triston Blackmon. It came in South Florida three days after completing its concacaf semi -final Triumph.

Now the Sorenson’s team hit the ground after eight days in the midst of the match: after some rare, hit the ground.

“You always welcome a little brake,” said Soranceon. “We have already played 19 games. So perhaps it is a good opportunity to do something on the training ground too. But on the other hand, we have speed. And if you can avoid it you don’t want to break it.”

LAFC (5-4-2, 17 digits) was considered in the early MLS Cup favorite when the season begins, and the manager Steve Cherundolo’s side could yet reach that position.

But his initial league form was inconsistent as he played through the ConcacAF Champions Cup quarterfinals, where he lost to Miami.

The exhaust reaction is an unbeaten run of four matches, with the most recent performance-the 2–0 domestic win over Houston Dynamo on the goals from the Nathan Ordaz and Jeremy Abobis-the most full Cherundollo has seen this season. It draws to Portland and St. Louis’s house.

After Houston’s victory, Cherundolo said, “We started playing better with the ball and created more opportunities in Portland. Making some defensive errors. St. Louis was the same.” “And then tonight I saw more complete performance on both sides of the ball and was very happy with our way we played tonight.”
