Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya said that it was important to be disciplined and humble after his sixth win over the IPL boom in Jaipur on Thursday. MI crushed RR by 100 runs to end the home team’s playoff expectations. In the post match presentation, Hardik said, “Everyone is very clear and we are going back to simple cricket, it is working for us and hopefully it will continue. We will continue to be humble, very disciplined and focused.”
“We could get another 15 runs. We were trying to talk to each other, the percentage shots were to play. Surya and I said that there is value for shots … Ro (Rohit) and Ryan batted in the same way. I think it was absolutely fantastic.
“It is never about people about getting the possibility; it’s about what is necessary in the situation. People are going back to bat. As a group, the way we batted was the right batsman.” Mumbai Indians made 217 for two after batting.
RR stand-in captain Ryan Parag MI batsmen just took the game away from them.
He said, “We have to give credit to the way MI is played. The way he batted, he scored a little deepening, scored 10 runs and finally accelerated. As far as our batting is concerned, it was not our day,” he said.
“We are starting well, but it is until the middle order – Dhruv, for us when we lose wickets in the powerplay, we move, but we still return ourselves, if another situation (like today) comes up, we will be ready for it.” Talking about the season, Parag said: “We have corrected a lot of things, a lot of things are wrong, we want to focus on the things that we have corrected, a lot of mistakes, a lot of small errors, focus on how to not make them and we had some close matches.”
