“Waiting for my speech …”: Rohit Sharma took a jib in the MI team colleagues during the best stand unveiling on his cheek

Rohit Sharma Stand was unveiled at the prestigious Wankhede Stadium on Friday. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis attended the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) stand review ceremony as one of India’s most dangerous openers was named in the arena. Rohit, who recently retired from Test cricket, has been a stalwart of Mumbai cricket and has successfully captained India for a serial ICC Trophy with T20 World Cup 2024 and Champions Trophy 2025 Trophy.

In his speech, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis promised that the Maharashtra government would consider and provide appropriate land to support if the MCA proposes to build a second stadium of one lakh capacity in Mumbai. Fadnavis also hoped that such stadiums could be kept in four years when the MCA would celebrate its centenary.
As part of the incident, MCA officially unveiled Sharad Pawar Stand, Rohit Sharma Stand, Ajit Vedkar Stand and former MCA President of MCA in memory of Amol Kale.
Kali became MCA President after defeating former India and Mumbai cricketer Sandeep Patil in the elections held in October 2022. He died of cardiac arrest while visiting the United States for the T20 World Cup in 2024.
During its tenure, the MCA took some important decisions, including the step to match the BCCI match fee for all its red-ball players for the upcoming 2024–25 season.
Late Ajit Wadkar, who was represented by his family, was the first ODI captain of India and led the nation in the West Indies and England to win the historic foreign trial series in 1971. He played 37 Tests and 2 ODIs between 1966 and 1974 and started his first grade in 1958-59.
Sharad Pawar has played an important role in the development of Indian cricket as a competent administrator. He has also played a big role in the overall development of the game as the President of the ICC.
Finally, Fadnavis thanked all the cricketers and their families who were given with respect. Accepting that the MCA may be delayed in naming the stand in the name of Wedkar, but it said that the move has at least end it now and thanked the MCA Governing Body for the incident.
Fadnavis also recalled Ajit Wadkar as the captain of the Indian cricket team who won a series in England and West Indies.
He also said that Rohit Sharma is entitled to the honor that has been given to him as he has inspired India to win in two back-to-back ICC tournaments. He also hoped that one day he would see Rohit Sharma hit six in a stand named after him.
Maharashtra CM said, “We should celebrate those who have been proud of us.”
