Virat Kohli’s RCB’s dream wins IPL Trophy or Shreyas Iyer’s thirst for redemption – what will win?

Shreyas Iyer won the IPL 2024 as the captain of KKR and would like to make it again this year. For Virat Kohli, he is yet to win an IPL trophy with RCB.

It all comes down to this. For the prestigious Indian Premier League (IPL) Trophy, Punjab Kings (PBK) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) will give their everything at the Narendra Modi Stadium on 3 June. Before closing the 2025 version, hardly anyone supported one of the teams to make it. But here they are standing. With one hand on the IPL Trophy.

Whoever holds his veins and arises between rapid pressure and will win with history on the line. But this is not just another IPL final. RCB and PBK are two out of three teams who are part of the IPL from their beginning and have not yet won. Waiting for a trophy 18 years will end for one of them.

Virat Kohli’s dream

But as often happens in cricket, it is more about personal stories than teams. For RCB, the man in the spotlight is Virat Kohli. Former captain is the face and spine of the franchise. He has been with him since the beginning. Kohli is the only player who has played each season and has not won an IPL trophy.

At this point, no one knows how long Kohli will play. And seeing that this is only the 4th IPL final, which he has reached, who knows when the next will come? RCB would like to win the title for him. There is not much disagreement for Sachin Tendulkar for Sachin Tendulkar in ODI World Cup 2011.

RCB captain Rajat Patidar has also openly expressed his desire to win the IPL 2025 final for him. “We will try and win this for her (Kohli). They have done great good for India and RCB over the years,” Patidar told reporters in Ahmedabad.

It will be 18 years to make for Kohli. If there is someone who is entitled to the IPL Trophy, then it belongs to him. He is finally done for RCB and tournament, he deserves at least 1 title before retiring. In the last 12 months, he managed to win 2 ICC trophies, and it would be a cherry over him.

Shres Iyer’s redemption story

The last 15 months PBKS has been the topss-torv for captain Shreyas Iyer. Despite being one of the best ODI batsmen and one of the testing teams, he was cut off from central contracts. The reason was a back injury. He claimed that it was still harassing him and some Ranji Trophy was taken out of matches but the BCCI otherwise thought.

After missing the previous IPL due to the same back injury, he returned to Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and took him to his second title. What else happened? Shreyas was not maintained by KKR before the 2025 auction. He has since won the Champions Trophy 2025, but was not included in India’s Test squad for England despite concrete performances.

And now there is a point to prove Shres. His suspicion and his old franchise. How much has he done? By winning the IPL 2025 trophy with PBK. He is already the only captain to take three separate teams to a final and can become the first captain to win the IPL Trophy with two teams.

History wait for Shreyas and is ready. “We (PBK) have been continuously in this season. And it all started here in Ahmedabad. Now we are in the final. I am very excited,” He said on the eve of the match.
