Both Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma were ready to feature for India in the whites on a tour of England, perhaps in their career, but a call to leave the format before leaving the series shocked everyone. The pair already retired from T20 International with the pair, the only format in which they would be seen wearing India’s shirt. While Virat Kohli has publicly expressed his desire to play in the 2027 World Cup, the importance that Rohit has given to the 50 -over World Cup does not match anyone. Nevertheless, Indian cricket great Sunil Gavaskar does not think that playing 2027 World Cup is practically possible for Rohit and Virat.

Today in a chat on sports, Gavaskar said that 2027 World Cup plans of the pair would be very much dependent on the perception of their game selectors.

“They have been a large -scale artist in this format of the game. Again, the selection committee will probably be looking at the 2027 World Cup. They will see if they will be able to live in the team for the 2027 World Cup? ‘Will they be able to contribute the kind of contribution they are doing?’ This will be the idea process of the selection committee.

When asked to share his opinion, Gavaskar was blunt in sharing his decision, suggesting that he does not think that any of Virat or Rohit would be in the Indian ODI for the 2027 World Cup.

“No, I don’t think they would be playing. I am very honest. But, who knows, in the next year, if they hit as a rich vein, and even if they keep scoring hundreds and hundreds, God can’t leave them,” Gavaskar stressed.
