Star Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) Batter Virat Kohli overtook Pakistan batsman Babar Azam, with a highest number of half -centuries batting for the first time in T20. Virat on Friday achieved this unique feat during the Indian Premier League (IPL) struggle against Rajasthan Royals (RR) at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

During the match, Virat scored 70 runs in 42 balls, with eight boundaries and two sixes. His runs came at a strike rate of 166.67. He arrived at home in four innings this season in his first half century, after scoring just 30 runs in three earlier innings at home. This is Virat’s 62nd fifty, while batting for the first time in T20, overtook Babur, who has 61.

Virat lost his wicket from Joffra Archer for the first time in T20, scored 103 and 80 balls in 11 innings, at a strike rate of 128.75 against Pesar. He has broken 12 fours and three sixes against England’s pace in the shortest format of the game.

The veteran has climbed second in the Orange Cap race, with 392 runs in nine matches of 65.33, which has a strike rate of 144.11, with five half -centuries. His best score is 73*.

Coming into the match, RR opted to bowl first after winning the toss. A 61 -run stand between Phil salt (26 in 23 balls, with four borders) and Virat shut down things for RCB. Later, after a 95 -run stand between Virat, who earned 70 in 42 balls, with eight fours and two sixes and Devdutt Padikkal (with 50, four borders and three sixes in 27 balls). Later, despite some quick wickets, Tim David (23*in 15 balls, two fours and one with six) and Jitesh Sharma (20*in 10 balls, with four boundaries) to 205/5 from 205/5 were operated from 205/5.

Sandeep Sharma (2/45) was the top bowler for RR, while Joffra Archer also gave an impressive four-over spell of 1/33.
