Vancouver de Ashton Bel selects to open the PWHL expansion draft

Ottawa Charge defender Ashton Bell was selected by Vancouver on Monday with the first overall pick in the professional women’s hockey league expansion draft.
Seattle had the next two options and Ottawa defender Anita Tejalova and Boston Fleet carried forward Hannah Bilka.
The 25 -year -old Bell scored three goals and three assistance in 27 matches for Ottawa in the previous season, offering him five goals and eight assistance through two seasons (51 games) with charge.
The Minnesota-Duluth Products University was part of the 2022 Olympic team of Canada’s Golden-Pressure 2022 and its 2021, 2022 and 2024 championship squads, which was in the IIHF Women’s World Championship.
29 -year -old Tejalova, after posting two goals, scored a goal and nine assistance in 30 matches in the previous season and a prior campaign for six assistance in 23 games. He won bronze medals with the Czech Republic team at the 2022 and 2023 World Championships.
The 24-year-old Bilaka, five goals in 16 matches for the fleet, is coming from the six-aid crook campaign. The Ohio State Alumna was to win the 2023 World Championship Squad in the United States.
A lottery victory allowed Vancouver to either pic or second and third pick, and Vancouver General Manager Kara Gardner More went for an alternative. After the pics in Seattle’s Pix 2 and 3, the teams abandoned two selections.
Vancouver wounded five forward and two guards, while Seattle chose four defenders and three forward.
The expansion draft came when both teams had the opportunity to sign up to five players who left unsafe by the current six clubs, and each team reached the limit. Seattle made a big splash by signing a former Boston Forward Hillary Night, a four -time American Olympian.
Neither the Vancouver team nor the Seattle team has announced a surname after joining PWSL for the 2025-26 season.
