USWNT Legend Tobin Heath announced retirement

Two-time Olympic gold medalist and World Cup champion Tobin Heath along with the United States women national team announced retirement from professional football on their podcast “The Re-Cap Show” on Thursday.

After 37 -year -old Heath, the announcement was struggling with a long -term left knee injury, requiring several surgery and eventually ending his career. Heath last played for NWSL’s Seattle rule in August 2022.

Heath said on his podcast, “I did tens of thousand dollars and (two surgery), a crazy surgery. And the whole time, I was confident that I was going to come back.” “Writing was definitely on the wall, I could not just accept, I think it was my end.”

The midfielder is one of the most vigorous USWNT players of all time, scoring 36 goals and performing 42 in 181 for the US in 13 years in 2021. Perhaps her most notable target came in the 2015 Women’s World Cup final in the United States 5–2 win in Japan, when she scored the final goal of the match to secure the team’s third World Cup title.

Heath also assisted the US to claim the Gold Medal at the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics and the 2012 London Summer Olympics along with the 2019 Women’s World Cup title.

At the club level, Heath won two NWSL championships with Portland forks, and Paris Play in Europe for St.-Germen, Manchester United and Arsenal.
