US Open Purses stays at $ 21.5 million

The USGA placed the award fund for this week’s US Open at $ 21.5 million with 2024 championships.
The US Open remains a major championship with the most attractive purse. Masters raised their award Pool in April to $ 21 million, PGA Championship was $ 19 million and most recently the Open Championship (July 2024) paid $ 17 million in prizes.
Bryson Decombo won $ 4.3 million in Pineharst No. 2 at the 2024 US Open. The champion will get the same amount at the end of this week at the Omont Country Club.
USGA CEO Mike Van mentioned the explosion in golf purse in this decade.
He said, “When I started in the USGA four years ago, our purse was $ 12.5 (million), so I feel comfortable that we have been a leader in moving fast and big,” he said on Wednesday. “… by the way, it is from women, where we have gone from $ 5.5 (million) to $ 12 (million) in a similar period.
“We know that it is not really about money for a person who (wins), but at the same time we want money to be with achievement. So we feel comfortable.”
