UNC Lands South Alabama QB Gio via Lopez Transfer Portal

A day after the Newly quarterback, Ryan Brown announced that he was leaving the Northern Carolina, Tar Heels excluded Gio Lopez from the transfer portal.
Lopez was the initial quarterback in South Alabama as a redsirt freshman in the previous season as Jaguar went 7-6 and won the Veterans Bowl.

According to ESPN, Lopez signed a two -year, $ 4 million deal from North Carolina.
Lopez, a 6-Foot-2, 220-Pound Alabama native, is connected to 66 percent pass in the previous season, for 2,559 yards and 18 touchdowns with five interception. He added 465 yards and 83 carry for seven TDs.
With the new coach Bill Belichic Tar Heels, Lopez joined a quarterback corps, including Max Johnson and upcoming freshman Brys Baker. Johnson, who previously played at LSU and Texas A&M, started the 2024 opener for North Carolina, but maintained a season-ending Broken leg in that competition.
Senior Jacaolbee Chriswell wounded as the primary cb of Tar Heels in the last season as the team left 6-7 with a necklace at Fenway Bowl.
Arrived briefly from brown perdue but quickly entered the transfer portal.
