Till 254 at home for twin centuries in Adelaide: Virat Kohli’s biggest test knock




Virat Kohli’s test career has been full of powerful performances in Adelaide, from the first century to the knock of a fight in Perth. He showed luxurious skills and determination, whether he is playing under hard foreign circumstances or leading the team at home. This special innings was not just about scoring runs – he showed his passion, meditation and love for the game. Kohli, one of the great batsmen of a modern day and one of the most virtuous batsmen in the history of Test cricket, on Monday announced his retirement from the longest format of the game at the age of 36 years.

From his debut in 2011 to becoming one of the most successful captains of India, 30 test centuries of Kohli made him the fourth most successful Indian batsman in the format following Sachin Tendulkar (51 hundreds), Rahul Dravid (36) and Sunil Gavaskar (34). Kohli also made seven Test double, so far time by an Indian. He also has hundreds of tests by an Indian captain (20 centuries), ahead of 11 tons by Gavaskar.

119 and 96 vs South Africa in Johannesburg (2013)

In his first visit to South Africa, Kohli announced his arrival in a hard foreign circumstances in 2013 with a score of 119 and 96 in Wanderers, Johannesburg.

In the fourth Test of England’s visit to India at Wankhede Stadium in 2016, Kohli produced a memorable innings of 235 – his then highest score in Test cricket. He batted for about nine hours, faced 340 delivery, with 25 fours and a six, exhibited extraordinary stamina and concentration.

This Dastak was also part of a golden run for Kohli, marking its third dual century in the same year – a record for an Indian captain at that time.

149 vs Edgbaston in England (2018)

Kohli silenced critics and re -wrote his story in England with a surprising 149 in the first Test in Edgbaston in 2018 – his first century in England.

In 2014, after his poor outing in England, coming into a series under immense pressure, Kohli faced a malignant attack in the event of James Anderson and Stuart Broad once again. He almost kept India in the game in a single form as the wickets tumbled at the other end.

His innings consisted of 22 borders and a six and a mixture of patience and aggression, with Kohli performing brilliantly during the tail-end partnership.

153 vs Centurion in South Africa (2018)

In 2018, in the Centurion, Kohli played one of a gritty knock in foreign circumstances. Against a quality South African pace attack on a pitch with variable bounces and a quality South African pace attack led by Morne Morkel, Kagiso Rabada and Vernon Philander, Kohli compiled a magnificent 153 of a total of 307 India.
