Tigers, Padress dealing with injuries as a 3-game series

Detroit Tiger Right Fielder Carry Carpenter (30) bats against Canasus City Royals during the eighth innings at Comerica Park on Thursday, 17 April 2025.

Detroit Tigers already have three outfielders in the injured list. Kerry Carpenter may have to join them.

The left-handed hitting slogger suffered a clear haemstring injury in 4-3 of the 10-inning Home Los Tigers in Canasus City on Sunday. Detroit opened a three-game domestic series against San Diego on Monday night.

“Hopefully, this is nothing. He is a big part of our lineup,” Ace Pitcheri Tariq Scubble said.

The Detroit Parker is working without Meadows (ARM; 60-day injured list), manual route (knee; 10-day IL) and matte viralling (shoulder, 10-day IL). It has forced the manager AJ Hinch to improve, in which Infielders Zach McKintery, Ryan Crector and even Xavier Baiz are getting some time in the outfield.

Tigers gave Royals a chance to sweep in the four-game series. The Cances City tied the game to the eighth position with the help of an infield error.

“It was a winning game,” said Hinch. “We keep ourselves in position and perhaps we can deal with it and make a little more space. But he did a good job of battling back.”

Detroit right-hand cadre Montero (0–1, 9.00 ERA) will make its second start of the season. Montero was called back from Triple-e Toledo last week as the tigers decided to temporarily go with six-man rotation.

Montero on Wednesday gave five runs and eight hits in five innings to lose 5–1 in Milwauki. He collided with eight and went one.

“He did some good things where he looked very fast,” said Hunch. “And all his pitches were working. And many times he could not keep the ball in the ballpark. It is an aggressive ballpark, he made some mistakes and he paid them.”

Montero faced Padress once as a cheater in the previous season, allowing five runs in 4 1/3 innings on 4 September.

They will be opposed by San Diego’s right hand Randy Waskes (1–1, 1.74), who has limited each of their last two opponents to an earned run in five innings. Vaske’s last outing came against the Chicago cub on Tuesday.

Pitches to contact Vaskes – their four initials have six and walks (14) compared to strikeouts (eight).

Tigers will look at Fernando Tattis Junior to cool, which led to run (22), home run (16), RBI (16), batting average (.358), triple (one), total hits (29), walk (12), on-base percentage (.436), total bases (56), total bases (56), total basis (56). Tatis scored all three runs including a single homer in a 3–2 win over Houston on Sunday night.

San Diego is trying to avoid a stretch in which its three early positions-Basman Jake Kronthanworth (Ribs) and outfielder Jackson Merryl (Hamstring) and Jason Haward (Knee)-are on the injured list.

It worsened on Sunday, as the designated hitter was injured in a collision on the first basis with Luis Array Astros’s second baseman Mauricio Dubone. Arreze was closed for further evaluation at Houston Methodist Hospital. He returned to the stadium after the game.

Padress manager Mike Shild said during an in-game interview that the club “was concerned about the jaw, his stability.” The team said in a statement during the game that Arrayz was “stable, conscious, responsible and able to move its peak.”

Earlier in the weekend, Shield emphasized a simple approach to overcome injuries.

“It’s about taking good batsmen,” he said. “This is about playing defensively. It’s about taking advantage of what the opponent gives us. And you know, the other side’s attempt is also. It is more similar. The formula is not going to change.”
