This is a win for BCCI and India

After the tournament suspension, BCCI will watch the IPL 2025 step II in September at the price of Asia Cup 2025.

The IPL 2025 was suspended for a week and when it can resume, there is no clarity, the Control Board for Cricket in India (BCCI) is in an uncertain position. But this is what the world thinks, not BCCI. The Asia Cup in the third week of September in Phase II of the IPL is the best window during 2025. In this way, the BCCI may force the Asia Cup to cancel and Pakistan, Mohsin Naqvi may hurt the President of the New Asian Cricket Council, and still complete the IPL after a break. This will be a win-win scenario for both BCC and India, which has now been pulled under a tension across a border by Pakistan.

The Asia Cup has a 19-day window in September, with a guarantee for the revenue purposes of at least two India vs Pakistan Match Broadcasters. However, the tournament is now a headache for Naqvi. Keeping Naqvi in mind, the internal minister of Pakistan will not play in the Asia Cup. This will not only be bad for the optics of India, but the government will not allow India cricket team to compete.

“This is extremely poor optics if cricket continues when there is a possibility of war with an evil nation (Pakistan). The game may continue when everything is normal. Also, it is very natural for foreign players and coaches and wants to be careful,” A senior BCCI official told PTI.

No Asia Cup in 2025

As the Insidsport had earlier stated that there would be no Asia Cup in 2025, which would have been played in the T20 format before the T20 World Cup.

Until 8 May, India-Pakistan stress was under control. However, Pakistan attacked India with 300–400 drones, targeting military and citizens in the dark veil, the situation has increased quickly. There is no situation in 2025, at least, where India can play Pakistan in a cricket match.

Thus, the future of the Asian Cricket Council looks foggy, as suggested by former India captain Sunil Gavaskar. However, how does it help BCCI and IPL?

IPL 2025 Step II

It helps. No Asia Cup means, the official broadcaster (Sony) will demand compensation from NQVI’s ACC. The Naqvi may force the Asia Cup to continue, which can combine collaborative nations such as Oman, UAE or even Hong Kong. But if there is no India vs Pakistan cricket match, it would be almost impossible for ACC to complete the revenue of broadcaster. Therefore, it will be a loss of Naqvi’s face, thus Pakistan.

With cleaning that window, the BCCI IPL can complete the 2025 step II. There are only 16 matches left in the tournament, and can be completed within two weeks, with some double header.

Is there a window?

BCCI has a March-May window to complete the IPL. Other windows have been captured. The window also ensures that all foreign players can compete in the league.

  • June-August 4: England’s India Tour (including India A Tour)
  • August: Australia’s hundred and South Africa tour
  • August-Sep: Caribbean Premier League
  • September: England vs South Africa

In September, although England hosted South Africa for a white ball chain (3 Odis and 3 T20I), BCCI could negotiate players’ release for IPL. Australia has no match during September. This window can be ideal for BCCI to finish IPL 2025.

October-November-December will not be available for IPL as India will host the Women’s ODI World Cup, while November-December is ash. Australia will also host India for a full white ball chain in October.

Therefore, for the IPL 2025 phase II in place of the Asia Cup, it will be a win for both BCCI and India.
