“The initial plan was …”: SRH coach Daniel Vettori vs. CSK

Sunrisers Hyderabad coach Daniel Vateri said that working around his batting line-up and getting a match-up with Kamindu Mendis in Mixes serves the team against Chennai Super Kings in his Indian Premier League match. SRH ended the line of victory against Chennai Super Kings in Chepack when he defeated the hosts by five wickets in Chepack on Friday, scoring 155 runs in five in 18.4 overs, as CSK was excluded for 154. Vetori admitted that SRH lost loose in this IPL.
“No, we (have not done well on those pitches),” Vettori told the media after the match.
He said, “We have overcome them and we have faced them at home, so it does not cool enough with our expectations around the surfaces. But Onas is on us that we are favorable and to understand what is necessary,” he said.
Waterori said that SRH was important to roam around its players against CSK as Mendis played an important role with both bat and ball.
He said, “This is why Kamindu’s choice came into the team. That is why the batting order was reshuffled, (Heinrich) Klassen up, Nitish (Kumar Reddy) was placed below, to give us a more balanced approach, especially to give us a more balanced approach,” he said.
“The initial plan was around the combination of the left-right hand, and in a way it is to compete with Noor (Ahmed) and Jaddu (Ravindra Jadeja) and how good they are through those middle steps.” He said, “A lot of arguments were raising him (Mendis) for this basis. We knew what kind of surface we would come against and be a batsman who can play all kinds of spin, be aggressive, and kill a crowd of shots, which was the initial point,” he said.
Meanwhile, the former New Zealand spinner praised the Titans spinner R Sai Kishore in India and Gujarat, revealing that he was a player who wanted to put it in his squad during the SRH mega auction.
“I think Jadeja has got a big future. I think he could actually kick,” Vettori asked which left -handed spinner in this IPL has impressed him.
“I am trying to think … (Mitchell) Santner has clearly been fantastic for Mumbai, Jaddu, Harpreet Brar has got some opportunities with Punjab (Kings).
“Sai Kishore Pick. He has been fantastic. He was a person we saw very closely in the auction and wanted him in the team. He has all the qualities of a very good limited over bowler.” He said, “He is very brave. He has the ability to turn the ball, changes his speed above and around the wicket. I think it sets a template for other spinners how you can really compete and be successful. They have done it on good batting wickets.”
Vetori continued, “I know he came to Hyderabad and bowled exceptionally well. So yes, I think he is incredibly impressive.”
