Ayush Matre, 17 -year -old debut of Chennai Super Kings, impressed everyone with his fierce knock during the IPL 2025 encounter against Mumbai Indians on Sunday. Matre, who became the youngest cricketer to play for CSK, scored 32 runs in 15 delivery with 4 fours and 2 sixes. The innings consisted of four and two sixes from Mumbai’s Indians Pesar Ashwani Kumar. Matre slammed a border at the fourth delivery of the fourth over and then chased it with a large six on deep mid-wicket. On the final ball, he once again attacked Ashwani and pulled it to Deep Square leg for six.

Hardik Pandya, a skipper of Mumbai Indians, won the toss and selected the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 to bowl first against Chennai Super Kings at the Wankhed Stadium here on Sunday.

A day after Rajasthan Royals started 14 -year -old Vaibhav Suryavanshi, Chennai’s Super Kings surprised a 17 -year -old Mumbai Ranji player Ayush Mahatre by handing over his first cap. Matre, who came in place of Rahul Tripathi, has become the youngest player to play for CSK.

Mumbai also made a change in which Ashwani Kumar was brought to the XI to play with an alternative bench.

With two of the three matches played at the Wankhed Stadium, this season was won by Czech so far this season, it was no surprise that Hardik Pandya opted to follow the same pattern.

Pandya said that the track looks good and felt that it could be a little sticky initially, which would give him a chance to assess the track. Pandya said, “We just need to play good cricket and execute plans, keep it simple.”
