Thanks to Cricket 2026 La 2028 Olympics for returning to Asian Games

This will only be the 4th time when cricket will be played in the Asian Games since the establishment of the event in 1951.
Cricket will continue in the Asian Games. The Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) has decided that the second largest game in the world will be played in consecutive sports for the second time. Although the event was built in 1951, cricket first depicted in 2010.
Cricket liked on open water swimming in Asian Games 2026
It returned in 2014, was not included in 2018 and then returned again in 2022. Since cricket will be played at the La 2028 Olympics, the OCA has decided that the game should be continued in the Asian Games 2026. Therefore, the organization has decided to include cricket on open water swimming.
Uncertainty at the site
Japan will host the Asian Games 2026. It will be played from 19 September to 4 October in Achi province (mainly Nagoya). As far as cricket goes, there is still uncertainty at the venue as Achchi does not have a proper infrastructure for sports. In general, Japan has 6 cricket grounds. But only one place is fit for hosting international level cricket: Sano International Cricket Ground, Tocigy Province.
Cricket in Asian Games 2022
In that 2022 edition of the Asian Games, which was played in 2023 due to Kovid, 14 teams were played in the men’s program. Nine teams were played in the group stage: Nepal, Mongolia, Cambodia, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, Maldives, Hong Kong and Thailand.
Of these, the top three, Nepal, Hong Kong and Malaysia, qualified for the quarter -finals. Whereas India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh had direct qualifications in the quarters. And India won the men’s program.
In the women’s program, 8 teams participated. Four teams were played in the group stage: Indonesia, Mongolia, Malaysia and Hong Kong. And Mongolia was knocked out. Similar to men, five teams earned a direct quarterfinal qualification: India, Pakistan, Thailand, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. And like men, India also won the women’s program.
