The long time after the match started, the play was again suspended as Fritz himself needed medical attention with a cut on his elbow on an acarbaj dive. He also cut his elbow during his second round of victory over Canadian Gabriel Dialo.

He returned to a clinic to the second set at 6-3, but in the third set he faced a consecutive Davidovich Fokina, which came to the top of a tiebreak on the strength of 17 winners.

Russia’s No. 14 Seed Andre Rublev came with a win of 7-5, 6-2, 6-3 on Edrian Mannarino in France, but said that the victory was not as easy as the score could be indicated.

“It was a difficult match, especially Adrian … (which) is very difficult to play,” Rublav said. “He tries to play crazy, and it was even more difficult on the grass with air here, so I knew for this match that I would have to be very patient and wait for my moment, and I did it today and that’s why I was able to win.”

Rubalav will face the winner of the match between Spain’s No. 2 Seed Carlos Alkaraz and German’s Jan-Lenced Stuff on Friday.
