Super Regional Roundup: Northern Carolina produces fireworks in 18-2 wins

No. 5 North Carolina visited Erizona in the 18–2 victory in game 1 of Chapel Hill Super Regional in the NCAA baseball tournament on Friday.

Tar Heels (46–13) captured Wildcats (42–19) in the first innings on unstable pitching. Arizona Starter Owen Kramkovski allowed two Besorners to open a hit by pitch and to open the bottom of the first innings. Two solo of Luke Stevenson and Gavin Gauller quickly made a three-run homer 5–1 after a hunter.

Northern Carolina scored seven runs in the second innings with a three-run shot from Stevenson, then two more runs for a 10–2 lead in the fourth innings.

After a pair of more RBI singles and homeers by Sam Angelo and Kane Cape in the eighth innings, the Northern Carolina lead grew to a shocking 16 runs. Stockley and Stevenson led the route for Tar Heels along with five and four RBI respectively.

Arizona made concrete contact, looked at 10 hits (four by Adonis Guzman), but failed to drive in consecutive runs. Northern Carolina Starter Jake Kannap improved 14–0 as she scattered two runs and nine hits in seven innings.

Louisville 8, Miami 1

Infielder Jake Munro’s pair of homers, including a decisive five-run innings, operated Cardinals (39–21) to win a storm at Louisville, KY.

In the second innings, after the run of the back-to-back Louisville home by Garat Pike and Munro, Hurricane (34–26) narrowed one to fly on top of the third with Renjo Gonzalez sacrifice.

At the bottom of the third, Louisville loaded the locations with a double, a deliberate walking and a hit by the pitch. Pike then hit Miami to a return to the Pichkari AJ Siskar, which Siskar threw out of the reach of Catcher Tanner Smith. Louisville scored two runs on an error for a 4–1 lead.

Munro gave a ball to a ball in the field of left-center with the runners in the second and third place for his second long ball of the day, leading to the cardinals 7–1. Louisville worked on another run with the fifth RBI of Munro in the fourth innings.
