Starling Mart hit the Walk-off RBI single with two outs in the 10th innings, helping New York Mets to complete an ideal homestand with a 4-3 win over Philadelphia Philos on Wednesday afternoon.
The 7–0 homestand of the mates is the second longest homestand in the history of the franchise at a distance of 10–0 in April 2015. The team made the presence of its most recent world series in that year.
Johann Rosas and Train Turner did RBI single back-to-back single in the fourth innings for The Philos, who have lost four straight games.
The automatic runner Francisco Lindor moved third against Jordan Romano (0–1) on the groundout of Lindor Juan Soto, before Pete Alonso doubled the game-hang RBI double in the field of right-center. Brandon Nimmo was deliberately gone and Romano had dropped Mark Vietos, before Marte blew up a single beyond the reach of the second baseless Bryson Stot.
The Alonso center was thrown into the home plate ahead of the fielder Cal Stevanceon and slapped his hands on the ground before being lifted by team partner JC Vinkar.
Max Kranik (2–0) relieved an injured Edwin Diaz One Pitch after Nick Castelanos’ tie-breaking from an-out single at the top of the 10th. Kranik pulled out a base-loaded jam to take out Stot and Max Capler.
Brett Batty hit the second deck in the second innings for Mats, two-run homer, which improved in 18–7.
The Soto 1 -for -4 was and since signed with Mets in December, the city field lives without a homer in its first 13 matches. He preserved 2–2 tie in the eighth innings when he tried to score from second place on Capler’s single.
Alec Bohm made three hits for Philips while Edmondo Sosa coupled two single couples,
Met’s Starter David Peterson conceded two runs on eight hits and walked out of two in 5 1/3 innings.
Zack Wheeler of Phillies gave five hits on nine hits in six innings and two runs on two walks.
