SRH owner Kavia Maran appears in a rare interview, speaks on his viral memes and reactions

Kavia Maran, owner of Sunrisers Hyderabad, was named the 100 most powerful women in Fortune India.
While many would believe Shah Rukh Khan and Preity Zinta are the two most celebrated owners in the Indian Premier League, on social media, no one dominates discussions like Kaviya Maran. No other owner gets so much attention from camera persons during an IPL match as the Sunrisers Hyderabad owner. Her reactions caught on camera go viral and they become memes at times.
However, Kaviya Maran, who is media-shy and rarely appears in interviews, is not bothered. She might get annoyed at the camerapersons for focusing on her too much, but she is not too bothered. She said it was her raw emotions.
“Those are my raw emotions that you’re seeing because my job has brought me to the point that I have to put myself out there. In Hyderabad, I can’t do anything; I have to sit there. That’s the only place I can sit. But even when I go to Ahmedabad or Chennai, and I’m sitting many feet away, somewhere in the box, the cameraman manages to find me. So, I understand how it becomes memes,” Kaviya Maran told Fortune India in a rare interview.
‘Wear my heart on my sleeve’
Like Mumbai Indians owner Nita Ambani, Kaviya never fails to attend Sunrisers Hyderabad matches even though she runs a multi-million dollar business. Since taking charge of SRH back in 2013, Kaviya has turned the team into a successful with a title and a runners-up finish. In the last two seasons, SRH have become one of the most fearsome teams in IPL.
“When it comes to Sunrisers, I genuinely wear my heart on my sleeve. I think when you put your heart and soul into something, you naturally tend to get very personally attached to its successes and failures,” said Kaviya, who is the ED & CEO of Sun TV Network and Sunrisers Hyderabad.
