A group of teachers who lost their jobs after the Supreme Court’s decision on the WBSSC recruitment scam, went to Sourav Ganguly’s house on Thursday to invite West Bengal State Secretariat in March 1. However, according to a report by ABP Anand, the former Indian cricket team Skipper has turned down his invitation. Teachers went to Ganguly’s residence in Kolkata to invite them for March that would take place on 21 April, but as per the report, Ganguly replied – “Please don’t join me politics”.
Emphasizing that students should not suffer, the Supreme Court today said that the teachers of West Bengal whose appointment was canceled earlier this month, can continue to teach until the fresh selection process is completed due to irregularities in recruitment. This relief, however, is only for ‘unpublished’ teachers – whose names were not associated with any irregularity during the 2016 appointments. In addition, relief is for teachers of classes 9, 10, 11 and 12.
However, the Supreme Court set a time limit for the Bengal School Services Commission (SSC). Chief Justice of India Sanjeev Khanna said that SSC will have to release the advertisement for the latest recruitment drive by 31 May and the selection process should end by 31 December.
“We are willing to accept the prayer made in the application so far, as it belongs to assistant teachers of classes 9 and 10 and classes 11 and 12. The following conditions are subject to the advertisement for fresh recruitment will be out by 31 May and will be done by 31 December, including the whole process.”
The Chief Justice said, “The state government and the commission will file an affidavit before or before May 31, as well as attach the schedule to ensure this to complete the recruitment process by 31 December. If the advertisement is not directed, the appropriate orders will not be passed, including the cost.”
