Somi Lee, Jin IM Win Dow Championship Team in the event playoffs

Somi Lee and Im Jin Korean pair on Sunday reinforced Lexi Thompson and Megan Khang to capture the Dow Championship title at Midland (Mich.) Country Club.

The teams re-repeated Par-3 18th to start the playoffs. Thompson was closer to taking his team away from Li, but Im 8-Footed rolled into a put and Khang missed his team’s 5-foot from the left.

Lee and Im Birds the 17th Hole and forced the playoffs to tie and Tie Tie on 20-Ein-Burbar 260 on 18th. Khang and Thompson fired the first 10-under 60 a day, and Lee and IM posted 62.

The Playoffs were deployed in the final round (best ball) format in the final round before being played in an alternative shot (Foursom).

It marked the first LPGA win for both Lee and IM, and IM said she could not win her first win without her playing partner.

“I think we are the best team ever,” IM said. “Hopefully, we’re coming back next year.”

“We are a crook season last year, but (LPGA) is so hard LPGA,” Lee said. “But we are winning together and I am very happy now.”

Thompson, who retired from the full -time LPGA competition after the previous season, was due to his first win since 2019. He fell 0–6 in the LPGA tour playoffs.

“Megan played some amazing golf this week. I pulled some good golf together today,” Thompson said. “It’s great to be with him. We have a lot of laughter and in the middle of shots we are relaxed and a good time.”

Khang shared that he and Thompson decided on Saturday night that they would “go out of there and have some fun, and whatever happens is that.” Both started the day with three shots.

Khang said, “I think first on tea, we said a lot that we will see where we will take it.” “Thankfully here and there put something there. To force another hole to remember the last one in the Bummer playoffs, but very happy how we played.”

Lindi Duncan tied third for 18 years and Miranda Wang (59) of China and Manon de cry of Belgium and were teams of Polyn Russin-Bouchide (64) of France.

Sarah Shamelzel and Albane Walenguela of Switzerland, who started the day, managed only 66 and came under fifth from 17 to fifth.
